About Us

St. Gobnait's is a family run nursing home with 20 residents that is known for its warm friendly atmosphere and it's beautiful tranquil setting.

Located in Ballyagran Co. Limerick, five miles from Charleville town, St. Gobnait's was established in 1985 when Dermot and Teresa Kelleher saw the need for a nursing home in the area. Teresa was working as a P.H.N. at the time. Dermot and Teresa purchased a private dwelling house adjacent to their own home and developed and extended it over the years.

St.Gobnait is the patron saint of Ballyvourney, a Gaeltacht village in southwest County Cork, Dermots homeplace, so this is where the name originated from.

It is now home to twenty residents and celebrated its silver jubilee with a big party in December 2010.

Teresa's daughter, Maura, also a nurse, took over the management of the home in December 2010 with her husband, Bryan, joining her as financial controller in 2016. Maura was the winner of the Nursing Home Director of Nursing/Person in Charge Award 2017. She is passionate about the holistic care of people with dementia and focusing on a person's retained abilities rather than those they have lost.
